Designers have to be storytellers, usually using images that have to clearly tell what is happening, and sometimes without the help of text. To examine how images could tell a story, we were given a chance to illustrate a poem, fairy tale, or nursery rhyme in six to eight panels. I chose a small poem called "For Want of a Nail":
For want of a nail the shoe was lost,
For want of a shoe the horse was lost,
For want of a horse the rider was lost,
For want of a rider the message was lost,
For want of a message the battle was lost,
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
